Debridement 101
Debridement 101
Windy Cole, DPM, CWSP, FFPM RCPS (Glasg) reviews current published consensus guidelines from IWII, WRR, and NPIAP that tell us that debridement is vital to the wound healing process. Slough or necrotic tissue in the wound can promote bacterial growth and prevent the formation of healthy granulation tissue. Dr Cole provides guidance around when and how to perform debridement in wound management.
